Trichophytic Closure Works, I know because my donor scar is invisible
NEWSLETTER - November 8, 2006

Each patient for strip transplants now receives trichophytic closure. It works and patients are happy with the results.

This is a photo of Dr. Jones' scar at five months post-op.

It has been 8 months since my hair transplant and I see patients daily who look for my scar and have difficulty finding it as there is hair growing through it. I encourage anyone that is interested in taking a closer look, to come by the office and see for yourself. I have been very encouraged by this new closure technique and use it on every strip procedure now.

How it works. The use of trichophytic closure minimizes the appearance of a scar in the donor area. This is done by cutting off the top of one wound edge and suturing it so that the hair from that edge grows through the scar. Either wound edge can be trimmed in the technique, but removing part of the upper edge is most common.

When a strip of hair is taken from a donor area in order to be transplanted in areas of thinning or non existent hair, a fine linear scar may remain. Surgeons minimize the risk of a visible scar by in various ways. Trichophytic Closure is a way of closing the wound of the donor area that causes hair to grow in that area by suturing the wound edge to the scar.
