Question: “Dr Jones, My hair loss started when I was 15, now I’m 20 and it’s much worse. My forhead is bigger because of my hairloss. What are the possible causes and treatments for this?
Answer: “I would confidently say this is genetic male pattern balding. You should get your hair mapped out for miniturization to make the diagnosis, afterwards you can possibly consider medications like Propecia. Good Luck, Dr Jones”

Question: “I’ve seen Dr Jones Instant Hair on your website, can you tell me about this product?”
Answer: “Sure. I am getting great feedback from my patients about my Instant Hair Thickening Fibers, and many of them use it. Dr Jones Instant Hair is applied before you go out onto the thinning area of your head. It comes in various colors, so you apply that which suits you best. It statically bonds to your natural hair, thickening up your hair with an incredible natural appearance (see the before and after photos on my website www.drrobertjones.com). The hair fibers stay in while you are out in public in any condition and wash out easily with soap when you are home. Dr Jones Instant Hair is for both males and females. An interesting use for mature females is to cover up roots that are growing back after a coloring, my wife uses it for this. I am amazed every day at my patients enthusiastic responses to Dr Jones Instant Hair, and at the confidence they are gaining with this simple versatile product. See my website for more information, and if you would like to try it you can order it from there as well.”

Question: “Hey, I’m really stressed out. I’m 14 years old and I think my hairs falling out. I saw a doctor and he said I have a healthy head, but I lose about 50 hairs every day in the shower alone, and this morning there was hair all over my pillow. Should I do somthing? What can I do? I don’t want to be bald.”
Answer: “The average person loses 100-150 hairs per day. The hair loss you notice in the shower is probably less than what you lose during the day when you are not washing your hair. It is all normal, don’t get stressed out.”

Question: “I have many friends who use Instant Hair Thickening Fibers. Why do I never hear of this product, they all love it. What is the best product on the market?”
Answer: “Hair Fibers are relatively new to the public conscience. But the product is great, and does wonders for just about anyone who is suffering from thinning hair. Whether one uses Instant Hair temporarily whil awaiting growth from a transplant or results from propecia, it makes people very happy, and more confident. There are many similar products out there, and all are virtually identical. The difference comes in price. Toppik is ridiculously over-priced, almost 10 dollars more a bottle than Dr Jones Instant Hair Thickening Fibers. Good Luck and enjoy the product!”

Question: “Is there anything I can do for my hair loss other than a transplant.”
Answer: “Of course there are tons of options. Take a look at my Patient of the week on my site (http://www.drrobertjones.com/featuredpatient-jan09.html). This patient used my product line (shampoo, conditioner, scalp treatment, Instant hair) along with 1mg of Propecia a day for two years and has had great results. Look at the before and after photos. He is using my new Instant Hair Thickening Fibers along with his new growth. He’s a happy man. I recomend trying this daily routine, who knows you might have a similar positive reaction.”

Question: “I have heard that by the 8th or 9th month Propecia’s regrowth/thickening will have taken effect. If I haven’t had any growth, now after 9 months, should I give up on Propecia?
Answer: “Medication works differently on each individual. I would never guarantee Propecia or any drug to any of my patients. There is no cure for hair loss and all drugs have limitations. At the same time, you may not be noticing any growth, but perhaps you notice less hair falling out. Less hair falling out is the effect of Propecia on many people. Good Luck, Dr. Robert Jones”

Question: “I am a mature woman and I have noticed that many of the ladies in the salons who are my age have thinning hair. What can you tell me? What can I do about it?”
Answer: “Female genetic balding affects possibly half of post menopausel women. Many women will lighten their hair, as it is the best colour to conceal the thinning. There are few other options. Be skeptical of the options you find and try to find first hand word about a procedure or drug before you use it. I would recommend my Instant Hair Thickening Fiber, as I do to most of my patients. Perhaps it will just be a temporary solution, but I have many women who use this product, whether it is to cover up roots, or thinning. You can learn more about this product at www.drrobertjones.com. Good Luck, Dr. Jones”

Question: “I am aware that supplements such as saw palmetto do not compare in strength and effectiveness to finasteride. But what if you had a daily routine with strict quidelines rather than taking propecia daily? The routine could look like this:
- keep cholesterol intake low to possibly decrease your testosterone levels
- 1-3 cups of green tea a day
- daily intake of supplements which include moderately large amounts of saw palmetto, nettle, beta sitosterol and lysine
- omega 3′6′9
- vitamin b complex
- daily multi vitamin of good quality
Also, I heard somthing about vitamen A contributing to male pattern baldness. Can you comment? Thankyou and keep up the infomative work!”
Answer: “Saw palmetto does not work the same way as finasteride, it is tough to rely on, much less predictable. It is always good to live healthy and have a low cholesterol diet. Any good thing in excess can be bad for you (for example taking too much vitamin A).
If the regimen you outlined works for you, then I would stick with it… but from my point of view, scientifically, it may help slow further loss, but I doubt it will be effective growing your hair. Good Luck, Dr. Robert Jones.”

Question: “What is the reason for bald head in middle? I am a 25 yrs old. female. I am taking mintop and rudimin treatement. What is your opinion of this treatement is good? Should I continue with it?”
Answer: “Females typically thin in an area on the middle and top of the head. Since medical problems are often related to female pattern hair loss, you should visit your doctor to have a complete check up and blood work to rule these out. The only real treatment besides hair transplant is minoxidil.
Good luck,
Dr. Robert Jones”

Question: I think I have a really low density in my donor site, perhaps too low. What is the lowest donor density a person, who is in their late twenties, have in order to have a successful transplant?
Answer: I would need to make sure that the person should not have Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia, which would reflect a depleted donor area in a young man (1-2% of the male population). Then, the size of the balding area, where we want to perform the transplant, and the pattern that the balding will take would have to be maintained and be balanced in a well defined master plan. You must always consider the worst possible case scenario when transplanting in younger patients who will most likely continue to lose hair. A good doctor will be able to make a judgment on the value of the donor density.
