frequently asked questions about fue A detailed look at people’s most common concerns about hair transplant solutions
Is getting FUE painful?
The procedure itself is not painful since the scalp is anaesthetized beforehand. The only part of the procedure that could cause some discomfort is the administering of the anaesthetic itself, although this is well tolerated by most patients.
How long will I need to wait until I see the final results?
Once the new follicles have been transplanted, the new hair will fall out between 1 week and 2 months after the surgery. This is completely normal and to be expected. The new hair will then continue to grow, and you can see the final results after approximately a year.
Is the transplanted hair permanent?
Yes – the hair at the back and sides of the head is genetically programmed to be permanent. The hair retains this quality when it’s transplanted to the top of the head, too. It should be noted that this will not prevent the other hair on your head that you were going to lose anyway from falling out. This is why it’s always recommended that you go on treatments to prevent further hair loss.
Will I have a scar?
FUE does leave lots of tiny scars that are invisible to the human eye, but for all practical purposes – no, FUE will not leave you with visible scarring.
Will people be able to tell I’ve had a hair transplant?
This will depend. If you have mild to moderate thinning at the crown, people might not be able to tell that you’ve had a transplant. If however, you’re having a new hairline constructed as part of your surgery, yes, it’s going to be apparent.
Will I have to take time off work?
Some patients like to take a few days off work immediately after their surgery, but as long as your job doesn’t involve a lot of strenuous activity, it’s usually not necessary to plan for downtime. A lot of patients like to get their procedure done on a Friday so they have a couple of days to recover over the weekend.
Are there any risks?
Because it’s a non-invasive procedure, the risks with an FUE procedure are very low. There’s some mild swelling in the days following surgery, but generally, the side effects are very mild and easily tolerated.
Just had the 3,250 FUE experience at Dr. Jones clinic. Finally followed my gut and made the move. Glad I did!! Treat yourself, get it done and stop perusing the HT websites…. I spent years clicking a mouse and hesitating, it’ll make you bonkers (trust me). Dr. Jones' clinic was everything you’d hope and expect regarding a delicate procedure like this. Glad I chose an experienced team and everything was done right. Follow up was excellent!!
